In 2011, the Circle of Regional Effigies (C.O.R.E.) consisted of 22 effigies created by Burning Man Regional groups around the world. They were placed in a ring 600 feet around the base of the Man. These effigies were a celebration of the Burning Man Regionals and their efforts to support the Burning Man ethos as a global cultural movement. They were built by participating Regional Teams that were responsible for all phases of their particular effigy’s lifespan: Design, Build, Burn & LNT.

All of the C.O.R.E. projects burned simultaneously at 9:00 pm on Thursday of the event. It was a beautiful sight to see. Thunderbridge stood for Portland in the 2011 Burning Man Circle of Regional Effigies. It was an inclusive community project that brought together a variety of dedicated and talented Burners (from newbies to veterans) who were not previously active on a Regional level. The project was a catalyst for community involvement, kindled relationships, shaped participants’ experiences and had a wide variety of supporters (from backers to ninjas) both locally, far and wide.
